Police Arrest Suspected Gun Runner, Recover Ammunition in Delta
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Happiness Clifford, over alleged gun-running activities in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, following operational breakthroughs recorded in Agbor and Warri.
According to the police, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested Clifford after acting on credible intelligence.
A search of the suspected hideout reportedly led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed in a bucket.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.
The police said efforts had been intensified to apprehend Okoro, while investigation into the case continues.
In a separate operation in Warri, police operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation.
The vehicle was reportedly conveying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink,” which the police said was suspected to be adulterated. The 44-year-old driver was arrested.
Further investigation reportedly led the operatives to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink and other beverages were recovered.
A Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products was also recovered from the warehouse, while the suspected operators reportedly fled after sighting the police.
The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine the source and distribution network of the products.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for the breakthroughs and directed that investigations be conducted diligently.
He urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information.
“Investigations should be pursued diligently to apprehend all suspects connected with the cases,” Oyeniyi said.
