Newborn Baby Allegedly Stolen From Benue Health Facility

A newborn baby has allegedly been stolen from the Comprehensive Health Centre in Gboko, Benue State, shortly after delivery.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, according to activist Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, who disclosed the development in a Facebook post.
According to Yaaya, eyewitnesses said an unidentified woman was seen following the baby’s mother when she arrived at the health facility for delivery.
The activist alleged that nurses on duty mistook the woman for a relative accompanying the patient, allowing her access to the ward.
He said the woman allegedly entered the ward at about 4:00 a.m. and left with the newborn baby.
Yaaya added that the whereabouts of the woman and the baby were unknown as of the time of his post.
He further stated that the incident had been reported to security agencies for investigation and efforts to locate the missing newborn.
