“So, we have come to tell you, up till the day of the election, if we see them, it is killing,”PDP Demands Investigation Into Fadahunsi’s Alleged ‘Killing’ Threat
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a transparent investigation into a viral video involving Senator Francis Fadahunsi, in which he was quoted as making a statement that the opposition party described as a threat to peaceful elections in Osun State.
The PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, made the demand in a statement on Wednesday, while expressing concern over what it described as increasingly inflammatory political rhetoric ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
The party said the statement attributed to Fadahunsi, “So, we have come to tell you, up till the day of the election, if we see them, it is killing,” had generated widespread concern and should be properly investigated.
The PDP also referenced other statements allegedly made by political figures, including the assertion that “political power is not going to be served in a restaurant… At all cost, fight for it, grab it, and run with it.”
According to the opposition party, such rhetoric could heighten political tensions and undermine peaceful democratic competition.
The PDP said elections should not be treated as a do-or-die contest, stressing that citizens must be allowed to freely choose their leaders without intimidation or predetermined outcomes.
The party specifically demanded “a transparent investigation of the Senator Fadahunsi incident and other threats to peaceful and transparent elections in Osun State.”
It also called on the President, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their officials to stop what it described as anti-democratic narratives and threats being deployed in political communication.
The PDP said, “Civility must take centre stage in our political communication, and the elections must be a true reflection of the will of the people, freely given through the ballot.”
The party maintained that all political actors and the government must adhere to democratic principles, describing this as necessary for the survival of democracy and the country.
