VDM Defends Family-Dispute Intervention, Accuses Critics of Hypocrisy

Controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has defended his decision to speak on a family-related matter involving a public figure, while accusing some Nigerians of hypocrisy over their reaction to his intervention.

VDM made his position known in a series of posts shared on social media, where he claimed that some Nigerians had launched a campaign against him and called for his removal from public platforms.

According to him, the backlash followed his call for people to hear all sides before reaching conclusions on a matter. He questioned why he was being condemned for commenting on a family dispute when other public figures and bloggers had previously discussed similar issues involving celebrities.

VDM described those criticising him as hypocritical, noting that some had previously discussed family-related controversies involving personalities such as 2Baba and Yul Edochie.

He also said he had been targeted with accusations that he was evil, compromised and had a character problem, adding that some people had allegedly organised a campaign to “cancel” him.

In another post, VDM said he was pleased that he had intervened in what he described as a situation that could have become another “Naira Marley situation,” referring to the controversies surrounding the late singer Mohbad.

He specifically mentioned Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, while reflecting on his intervention and said the development had changed after he drew attention to the matter.

“At the end of the day I am happy I stepped up to save another Naira Marley situation,” VDM stated.

He added that his intervention was part of what he described as his broader campaign for people to examine issues carefully before taking sides.

VDM maintained that he would continue to speak on issues he believes require public attention, despite criticism from some sections of the public.
