Bamigboye: Thousands of Nigerian Students Now Access Higher Education Through NELFUND

The immediate past Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Olarewaju Bamigboye, has described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s most impactful initiatives, saying the scheme has given thousands of Nigerian students access to higher education.

Speaking during the maiden edition of his interactive radio programme, Renew Hope with Ambassador Bamigboye, on Isokan 106.7 FM, Bamigboye said the student loan scheme has removed financial barriers that previously prevented many young Nigerians from pursuing tertiary education.

According to him, the programme was created to educate residents on the Federal Government’s policies and ensure Nigerians understand the long-term benefits of ongoing reforms.

He noted that many people at the grassroots remain unaware of several developmental programmes introduced by the Tinubu administration or focus only on immediate personal gains instead of projects with lasting national impact.

Bamigboye also highlighted major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Highway, describing them as transformative investments that will improve transportation, boost commerce and drive economic growth.

On security, he commended the Federal Government’s efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and kidnapping through improved intelligence gathering, enhanced welfare for security personnel and expanded military operations.

The former council chairman further praised the administration’s decision to strengthen local government autonomy and increase allocations to councils, saying the policy has enabled local governments to execute more community-focused projects.

He maintained that President Tinubu’s reforms across education, infrastructure, security and grassroots governance justify a second term in office.
