Police Deploy CP Samuel Etaifo to Lead Election Security Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Samuel Erale Etaifo to Osun State as the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security ahead of the state’s forthcoming governorship election.
The deployment, announced on Friday by the Force Headquarters in Abuja, is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s comprehensive security strategy to ensure a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process across the state.
According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, CP Samuel Etaifo will coordinate and oversee all election security operations in Osun State. He will work closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to safeguard voters, election officials, and sensitive electoral materials throughout the election period.
The Police clarified that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, remains the substantive head of the state command. He will continue to supervise routine policing activities while providing the necessary administrative and operational support to the Commissioner of Police in charge of election duties.
The Force also reminded all personnel deployed for the election to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to the law, including compliance with the Code of Conduct for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, called on residents of Osun State,political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safe, credible, and successful governorship election.
The deployment comes as security agencies intensify preparations ahead of the Osun governorship poll, with the Police assuring the public of their commitment to protecting lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process.
