NAFDAC Shuts Three Ogun Firms Over Banned Sachet Alcohol Production

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed three alcohol manufacturing companies in Ota, Ogun State, for allegedly producing alcoholic beverages in sachets and small PET bottles in violation of the Federal Government’s ban.

The agency said the enforcement exercise was carried out by its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate following the discovery of several regulatory violations at the affected factories.

According to NAFDAC, officials found one of the companies actively producing sachet alcoholic drinks and storing large quantities of PET bottles. The agency alleged that some of the restricted products were later removed from the premises without authorization after the facility had been placed under regulatory watch.

NAFDAC also said another company was caught continuing the production of sachet alcoholic beverages despite the government’s prohibition, leading to its immediate shutdown.

The agency further disclosed that a third company, which had previously been sanctioned, allegedly broke official seals placed on its production equipment and resumed manufacturing banned products.

 Additional PET bottles and packaging materials were reportedly recovered during the latest inspection.

NAFDAC said the operation is part of its ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with the Federal Government’s ban on sachet alcoholic beverages and protect public health. The agency urged manufacturers and distributors to comply with existing regulations and encouraged members of the public to report violations through its official channels.
