APC Never Forced Peter Obi Out of Any Party, Says Nentawe Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims that the ruling party was responsible for the political movements of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying Obi made those decisions on his own.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Yilwatda said Peter Obi had been changing political parties long before the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s leader.

According to him, no member of the All Progressives Congress compelled Obi to leave any of the political parties he had belonged to over the years.

He said Obi was not forced out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Nobody in the All Progressives Congress chased Peter Obi out of the Peoples Democratic Party. Nobody chased him out of the Labour Party. Nobody chased him from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress. Nobody chased him from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

“He started moving from one party to another long before now, during the time of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014,” Yilwatda said.

The APC national chairman contrasted Obi’s political journey with that of President Tinubu, whom he described as a unifying figure within the ruling party.

Yilwatda further alleged that Peter Obi left the African Democratic Congress after discovering he would not secure the party’s presidential ticket automatically.
