Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has described the empowerment of women as a key step towards strengthening families, communities and the economy of the state.

Radda stated this while welcoming the Vice-President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, to Katsina State for the flag-off of the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU).

The governor said more than 40,000 women across the state are expected to benefit from the intervention, which will provide access to capital to expand businesses, improve household incomes and build sustainable livelihoods.

According to him, the programme goes beyond financial assistance, describing it as an investment in families, community resilience and the economic future of Katsina State.

Radda appreciated the Federal Government, the World Bank and other development partners for their support, noting that Katsina State had committed N4 billion to the programme.

He said the state government’s contribution had enabled the expansion of the NFWP-SU from six Local Government Areas to all 34 LGAs in the state.

The governor also appealed for additional funding and technical support to enable the programme reach more women, particularly those in underserved communities.

He expressed particular satisfaction with the participation of women with hearing impairment, who have formed their own Women Affinity Groups under the programme.

Radda said their inclusion demonstrated the commitment to ensuring that disability does not become a barrier to economic opportunities.

He urged the beneficiaries to treat the support as a seed for growth by investing wisely, keeping proper records, maintaining a savings culture and working together to build stronger and more resilient businesses.
