Lagos Trains 600 Entrepreneurs in Digital Marketing

Lagos

The Lagos State Government has commenced a three-day digital marketing training for 600 market men and women, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), young adults and artisans across the state.

The training, organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is themed “From Local Business to Global Market: Leveraging Digital Marketing for Business Growth” and is holding at the Women Development Centre, Agege, Lagos.

Declaring the programme open, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, said digital marketing had changed the way businesses reach customers.

Dada encouraged participants to take advantage of digital platforms and use their Android phones to promote their products and reach customers beyond their immediate environment.

She also announced that participants would receive Android phones on the final day of the training, while transportation stipends would be provided during the first two days.

The training, facilitated by Liquid Luck Consulting, focuses on practical digital marketing skills, including WhatsApp Business, business catalogues, competitor analysis, customer engagement, financial management and online security.

Participants are also being taught how to identify fake payment alerts and scam messages and the importance of separating business funds from personal money.

One of the beneficiaries, Adigwe Jerry, expressed appreciation to the state government, saying the training would improve his knowledge and help him grow his business.

Another participant, Taiwo Halimat Shadia from Alimosho Local Government Area, said she had already gained two followers for her business through one of the digital platforms introduced during the training.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, urged participants to put the knowledge acquired into practice and use the opportunity to expand their businesses.
