Timaya Says Fela Helped Nigerian Music Gain Global Recognition

Nigerian singer Timaya has credited late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti with playing a major role in the growth and popularity of Nigerian music.

Timaya said Fela’s pioneering work helped create a strong foundation for the Nigerian music industry and contributed to the attention Nigerian music receives around the world.
