Tinubu Celebrates Oluremi at 66, Says ‘I Would Choose the Same Road That Led Me to You’

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante.”
In a heartfelt birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, Tinubu praised Oluremi for standing by him through difficult moments and for providing counsel, prayers and support throughout their years together.
The President quoted a Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning “A good wife is her husband’s crown,” while also referring to the biblical description of the virtuous woman in the Book of Proverbs.
Tinubu said the First Lady had remained a source of strength to him, particularly during periods when the future was uncertain.
He wrote that some of the burdens he carried often found their way onto her shoulders, adding that she could understand his thoughts even when he struggled to put them into words.
The President also praised Oluremi for her honesty, saying she often tells him what he needs to hear, even when he would rather not hear it.
According to Tinubu, Oluremi’s influence extends beyond their family, noting her involvement in initiatives supporting vulnerable Nigerians, including young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.
He referenced her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative, describing her as a compassionate advocate for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases.
Tinubu also highlighted her commitment to helping people regardless of their tribe, region or religion.
Reflecting on their years together, the President said their journey had been marked by difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you,” Tinubu said.
He expressed gratitude to his wife for the life they have built together and prayed that God would grant her many more years in good health and joy.
