The Young Innovators of Nigeria has trained about 30,000 young Nigerians in digital literacy and technology skills over the past 12 years, with another 4,000 beneficiaries trained so far this year.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Joy Buba, disclosed this in a telephone interview with National Focus, saying the NGO is now expanding its programmes to include Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Buba said the organisation has delivered digital skills training through initiatives including the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme and partnered with various organisations, including the Federal Government, to take digital literacy to different communities across Nigeria.

She explained that the organisation’s focus goes beyond training, as beneficiaries are provided with platforms to showcase, commercialise and earn from the skills they acquire.

According to her, some beneficiaries have secured jobs through the platforms, while others who have developed startups are supported with opportunities to commercialise their innovations.

Buba said the organisation believes in sustainability and aims to help more young Nigerians turn technology skills and innovative ideas into businesses and sources of income, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth and GDP.
