Kwali

The Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Abuja, Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali, has visited the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to explore collaboration on digital literacy, ICT development and technology adoption in the area.
Kwali, who assumed office on June 15, 2026, said the visit was aimed at establishing stronger partnerships that would promote digital awareness among youths and improve the use of technology in the administration of the council.
Speaking during the visit, the chairman said his experience in local government administration had reinforced the need to leverage technology to improve governance, efficiency and service delivery.
He said there was a need to expose young people in Kwali to digital opportunities while equipping council workers with relevant ICT skills to improve productivity and administrative processes.
“The world has become a global stage, and there is a need for us to engage more with technology to make our communities and administrative processes faster and more efficient,” Kwali said.
The chairman also expressed the council’s readiness to partner with NITDA to train and upskill its workforce, strengthen digital capacity and introduce technology-driven solutions to improve services for residents.
Responding, the NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, represented by the Director of Human Resource Management, Sarafa Lawal, welcomed the proposed partnership.
Lawal said the initiative aligned with NITDA’s efforts to deepen technology adoption and digital literacy at the grassroots.
He disclosed that one of NITDA’s key objectives is to ensure that 70 per cent of Nigerians acquire digital literacy skills by 2027, stressing that local governments have an important role to play because of their closeness to the people.
According to him, NITDA is willing to collaborate with Kwali Area Council to train and upskill its staff, as well as support initiatives aimed at providing youths and other residents with relevant digital skills.
