PDP Will Restore Power to Nigerians, Revive LGs – Adebutu
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has said his mission is to restore power to the people and rescue the state from 15 years of hardship.
Adebutu said this on Wednesday, while delivering his address at the party’s official flagged-off campaigns for the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, during the PDP era between 2003 and 2011, local governments were functional and vibrant, with wealth creation at the grassroots, prompt payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and cooperative deductions.
He lamented that since 2011, local governments have gone into comatose, a situation he said has brought heavy poverty, particularly in the state.
Adebutu said the level of poverty in Ogun State is extreme and that the people must stand together to liberate the state, adding that his administration would bring comfort and relief through his ITURA DE agenda.
He promised to dismantle the architecture of fear, secure farms and highways, liberate local government councils from financial bondage, ensure immediate payment of withheld gratuities for retirees from July 2nd, 2025, and review the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Adebutu, who described himself as a man whose roots, wealth and enterprises have been in Ogun for over 31 years, vowed to resurrect people-centric governance, harness public-private partnerships to fund infrastructure, tackle double taxation, and expose corruption in the state’s budget.
On her part, the deputy governorship candidate, ‘Yemi Showunmi-Kolapo assured the people of Ogun of quality leadership, stating that she was happy that supporters and residents at large defied the rain to support the party.
Showunmi-Kolapo asserted that residents would bid poverty and maladministration goodbye once the PDP takes over reins under the administration of Adebutu.
In his remarks, the Party’s State Chairman, Abayomi Tella, noted that once residents vote for the party, their show of support would be reciprocated with the provision of basic social amenities and good governance.
“Ladi Adebutu stood by us. That is why we will not allow an Ekiti man to come and rule our state. We don’t know wether he is a Lagos man, or Ekiti, but we won’t allow strangers to govern Ogun. Ogun people, let us use the Osun model. Stand by your votes” Tella added.
