Osun Election: TICC Commends Oyebamiji, Urges Leaders to Unite
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the recently concluded Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, for congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory.
TICC described Oyebamiji’s action as a demonstration of sportsmanship and political maturity, urging political leaders across party lines to prioritise peace and the development of the state.
In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said the election was keenly contested, with emotions running high and lives regrettably lost.
The council said the outcome of the election should now provide an opportunity for healing, reconciliation and sober reflection among political actors and residents.
“Elections will come and go, but Osun State remains our collective heritage,” the statement said.
TICC called on leaders across political divides to work together for the peace, progress and development of the state, stressing that political differences should not become permanent divisions among the people.
The council also said Adeleke remained open to ideas and suggestions from Oyebamiji and other stakeholders on how to move Osun State forward.
According to the group, the responsibility for the development of Osun and the wellbeing of its people should be shared by all stakeholders irrespective of political affiliation.
“There will always be another election and another opportunity to disagree politically. For now, let Osun heal. Let our leaders unite, and let the interest of our people come first,” TICC said.
The council urged political leaders and their supporters to put the election behind them and focus on rebuilding trust and promoting unity across the state.
