Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have dismantled a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The military said the operation, conducted in the early hours of Thursday, August 27, followed credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists and was aimed partly at locating and rescuing abducted persons.
According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the joint force included the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State.
The troops reportedly navigated difficult terrain before penetrating the terrorist enclave and launching a coordinated strike.
The military said the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 21 terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Following the operation, the troops dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed logistics infrastructure believed to have supported the group’s operations.
Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were also destroyed, while troops recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

The Joint Task Force commended the troops and ONSA Tactical Team for their professionalism, resilience and coordination during the operation.
It also assured residents that military operations would continue until the abducted persons are located and rescued, while efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region are sustained.
