The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has stepped up efforts to improve the safety, reliability and distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and propane across Nigeria.

The Authority disclosed this after engaging gas processing companies and other industry stakeholders in a meeting focused on strengthening compliance with regulatory standards across the LPG value chain.

The engagement centred on the need for gas processors to maintain required standards in the processing, handling and distribution of LPG and propane in line with the Authority’s regulatory mandate.

NMDPRA stressed that strict compliance with established standards is essential to ensuring that consumers across the country have access to safe, quality and reliable LPG.

The Authority said improved compliance would also support the expansion and development of Nigeria’s domestic LPG market by strengthening confidence in the sector.

The meeting provided an avenue for regulators and industry operators to discuss operational challenges, improve collaboration and identify measures to make LPG distribution more efficient and reliable.

NMDPRA reaffirmed its commitment to regulation that promotes market stability, protects consumers and creates an enabling environment for sustainable investment in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.

The Authority said the engagement formed part of its broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s LPG value chain and ensure that industry growth is supported by effective regulatory oversight.
