Aiyedatiwa Flags Off Construction of 2.38km Flyover in Akure
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has flagged off the construction of a 2.38-kilometre flyover bridge along the Oyemekun–Oba Adesida Road corridor in Akure, describing the project as a major investment in the city’s infrastructure and economic future.
The governor, who announced the project in a statement, said the flyover was designed to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and make movement easier along one of the busiest corridors in the state capital.
According to Aiyedatiwa, the flyover will stretch from Adegbola Junction through Ojaoba and Omieja to St. Mathias/NNPC Filling Station in Alagbaka.
He said the project would particularly benefit traders, students, workers, patients and other residents who regularly experience traffic congestion along the corridor.
“This project is not just about concrete and steel. It is about the people,” the governor said.
Aiyedatiwa noted that the growing population and economic activities in Akure required corresponding investment in critical infrastructure.
He said improved road connectivity would create a better environment for businesses to operate, attract investments and open up opportunities for residents.
The governor also acknowledged the support of traditional rulers, residents, traders, transporters and other stakeholders, assuring them that the temporary inconveniences caused by construction would ultimately give way to lasting benefits.
He added that his administration would continue to invest in projects aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting economic development across Ondo State.
“We are not just building a flyover. We are building a more connected, modern and economically vibrant Akure,” Aiyedatiwa said.
