Oborevwori Commissions 12 Duplexes, Presents Vehicles to Delta Permanent Secretaries
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has commissioned 12 four-bedroom terraced duplexes for Permanent Secretaries and presented 12 official vehicles to newly appointed Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to improve the welfare and efficiency of the state’s civil service.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Oborevwori said his administration was committed to improving the working conditions of civil servants through investments in housing, mobility, training and other welfare initiatives.
The governor said the newly commissioned duplexes would provide befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries, while the completed internal roads and drainage infrastructure within the quarters would help address flooding and erosion.
He added that the 12 official vehicles would enhance the mobility of the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and enable them to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Oborevwori also highlighted what he described as merit-based appointments within the state civil service, saying his administration had continued to prioritise competence and professionalism in the public service.
According to him, the state had also trained 450 senior management staff as part of efforts to strengthen their capacity and improve service delivery to residents.
The governor further disclosed that Delta State had implemented the national minimum wage and was working towards the payment of a 13th-month salary as part of measures to improve workers’ welfare.
He said the various initiatives were aimed at building a more motivated, efficient and responsive civil service capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of Delta State.
