“Atiku Is Confused, a Voodoo Economist” — Wike Knocks Former VP Over Fuel Subsidy Promise

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has criticised former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the action democratic congress (ADC) in the 2027 poll Atiku Abubakar over his promise to restore fuel subsidy if elected president in 2027.

Wike described Atiku as a “confused” politician and “a voodoo economist,” accusing him of making contradictory statements in his bid to become president.

According to Wike, Atiku had previously opposed fuel subsidy, but has now changed his position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“Atiku Abubakar is confused and a voodoo economist. He will say anything to become president. In 2022, he said fuel subsidy was a fraud. Now, he’s saying he won’t remove the subsidy,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister was reacting to Atiku’s recent declaration that he would restore fuel subsidy if elected president in 2027.

Wike questioned the consistency of Atiku’s position, suggesting that the former vice president was making the promise for political reasons rather than as part of a clearly defined economic policy.
