Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has congratulated former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his 85th birthday.

Obi, in a goodwill message, described Babangida as a respected elder statesman and significant figure in Nigeria’s political history, while acknowledging his contributions to the country.

“On behalf of my family, I join numerous well-wishers across the nation to most sincerely congratulate you today on your 85th birthday anniversary,” Obi said.

The NDC presidential candidate praised Babangida’s “enduring insights, commitment to national unity, and wisdom,” describing them as valuable as Nigerians continue efforts to build a more secure, united and prosperous country.

Obi further prayed for the former military leader, wishing him continued good health, joy, peace of mind and many more years of fruitful life.
