The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed N3.82 billion to settle Back-End Computation (BEC) pension arrears owed to 30,356 Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) pensioners across Nigeria.

In a press release issued on Thursday, August 14, 2026, PTAD said a total of N3,817,568,592.80 was paid to pensioners under the Pension Department (PDO), Defunct and Transferred Agencies Pension Department (PTAD) and Teachers and Health Pension Department (TEHPD).

The Directorate said the payment represents accrued arrears arising from the Back-End Computation Review Exercise conducted to address and resolve complaints relating to pension computations and outstanding entitlements of DBS pensioners.

PTAD said the disbursement demonstrates its commitment to addressing verified outstanding obligations and improving the welfare of pensioners under its mandate.

Speaking on the development, the Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, expressed appreciation to the affected pensioners for their cooperation throughout the review process.

Odunaiya said, “The Directorate remains committed to the timely, transparent, and accountable payment of verified pension entitlements.”

She added that the payment reflects the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to addressing pension-related issues and strengthening pension administration under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

PTAD said it would continue to engage with DBS pensioners, promptly resolve pension-related complaints and deliver efficient, transparent and accountable pension administration.
