ADC Chairman Accuses Dalung-Led Group of Plot to Destabilise Plateau Chapter

The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Plateau State, Hon. Dung Daweng Pam, has accused a group allegedly led by former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Solomon Dalung, of attempting to destabilise the party through what he described as an unconstitutional caretaker committee.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat, Kalwa House in Jos, Pam said the group has no constitutional recognition within the ADC at either the national or state level, alleging that its activities are aimed at creating confusion and undermining the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also claimed that some individuals had infiltrated the party to sow division and weaken its growing influence in Plateau State.

“We also have credible information that certain individuals have been strategically planted by the ruling APC to infiltrate our party and sow seeds of division. While such tactics are not uncommon in politics, we wish to assure our members that the leadership of the party remains vigilant. Appropriate constitutional and disciplinary measures will be taken against anyone found working against the collective interest of the party.”

Pam said the State Working Committee, party stakeholders and the 17 Local Government Area chairmen resisted what he described as attempts to hijack the party’s internal affairs and manipulate the outcome of its governorship primary election.

According to him, the state leadership subsequently met with the ADC national leadership in Abuja, where it successfully defended the emergence of Brigadier General John Sunday Sura as the party’s authentic governorship candidate.

“The legitimate mandate of Brigadier General John Sunday Sura was protected, and the conspiracy against the wishes of party members was completely defeated.”

The state chairman further condemned comments allegedly made by Dalung against one of the party’s national leaders, Baba Kashim Imam, saying the remarks were personal and did not reflect the position or values of the ADC in Plateau State.

Pam expressed appreciation to the party’s national leadership, including National Chairman Senator David Mark, Deputy National Chairman Senator Patricia Akwashiki, presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other stakeholders for supporting what he described as due process and internal democracy.

He said the Plateau chapter remains focused on strengthening party structures, mobilising members and preparing for the next phase of activities in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable.

“We are confident that the ADC will emerge as the party to beat in the 2027 general elections. Our candidates will present practical policies and people-oriented programmes that will restore hope, promote development, and improve the lives of Nigerians.”
