Ogun CP Reaffirms Commitment to Corps Members’ Safety

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and promoting youth development across the state.

According to a statement by the Ogun State Police Command, the commissioner gave the assurance while receiving the Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, and members of her executive management team during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the NYSC, enhancing the security of corps members, and improving collaboration on community-based security initiatives in Ogun State.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Adewuyi commended the Ogun State Police Command for maintaining a cordial relationship with the NYSC and for providing adequate security and support to corps members serving across the state.

She also praised the Command’s commitment to the welfare and development of corps members posted to police formations and pledged the NYSC’s continued cooperation in intelligence sharing to improve security.

In his remarks, CP Ojajuni reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains the Command’s top priority, assuring that corps members and other residents would continue to enjoy adequate security under his leadership.

The police commissioner encouraged corps members to make the most of their service year by building leadership qualities, discipline, and resilience. He also warned them against engaging in cultism, drug abuse, and other criminal activities, stressing that the NYSC uniform would not shield anyone from prosecution if found guilty of any offence.

CP Ojajuni further introduced the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), describing it as a community-driven initiative focused on discouraging cultism, substance abuse, and other social vices among young people.

He disclosed that the Ogun State Police Command is planning a statewide POCACOV campaign to expand awareness across schools and communities.

The commissioner also urged the NYSC management to continue enforcing discipline among corps members, noting that adherence to rules and regulations is essential for building responsible citizens.
