The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is set to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced digital tools to capture, analyse and structure ideas generated by young Nigerians into concrete policy proposals for national development.

NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the maiden National Youth Conference held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja.

Inuwa described Nigerian youths as the country’s most strategic asset, noting that social media platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok have created vibrant spaces for young people to express their views and ideas.

He, however, said the huge volume of online content makes it difficult for government authorities to separate genuine policy solutions from digital noise and misinformation.

According to him, NITDA is providing the technical backbone to filter the online noise and capture actionable insights directly from young Nigerians participating in the conference.

He explained that the agency, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development, would deploy AI frameworks to categorise submissions into specific thematic areas, including digital innovation, job creation, climate action and security.

The approach, he said, would create an auditable trail through which ideas generated at the conference could move directly into official policy channels.

Inuwa assured participants that their discussions would be captured and preserved through technology, while NITDA would provide full technical support throughout the process.

He added that the AI-driven approach would also support virtual zonal sessions scheduled to hold from October 5 to 17, 2026.

According to him, the virtual sessions will enable young Nigerians across all 360 federal constituencies and those in the diaspora to contribute their ideas towards shaping the country’s future, irrespective of their physical location.
